It started when Karine had to go hide in a bathroom stall, away from the open space of EY, to book a bikini wax because her meeting had been cancelled last-minute and she would finally have a free moment. She ended up not being able to find an availability at the few salons she knew close to her office and thought that it was impossible that NO salon had an empty slot that matched her schedule. Booking self-care shouldn’t be that frustrating and difficult. The idea of ILUK was born.
There was nothing more exciting than the thought of embarking on this adventure to bring the first app to book last-minute appointments at the top-rated salons and barbershops in Canada with her best friend Stacey. Stacey and Karine started working together and Mayur came onboard the founding team to take over the development. He’s the wizard behind the technology. After a lot of hard work, hundreds of conversations with salon owners and managers and future users, the ILUK App was launched in December 2019. Shortly before that, the ILUK team hired Élodie known to be a beauty guru and lifestyle influencer. She’s known as ILUK’s social media fairy and graphic expert.
